Hi,
I'm skating in an old pair of Salomon skates with a 5 80mm-wheel frame. It's time for an upgrade, and Salomon, which I've always found to be the most comfortable, doesn't sell skates anymore. I wear a size 7.5 women's, and my foot is on the wide side. I'm debating between Roces and K2 - which boot, in your experience, fits most like Salomon? Thanks, AJ |

Well, I skated salomons for years and loved them, So as I need a new pair of skates I chose k2. I dont know anything about Roces. I chose k2 becaues of the reputation of the comfort boot. The first few skates they seemed clunky and huge with all of the padding. Within the first few skates the quick release cord frayed so much it was a matter of time or pressure as to how long I could get by.... had to buy new pair ... NOt happy. NOt covered by Warrenty. ( a poor design on k2's part) I wouldn't say I love them... but after all of the turmoil of what to choose and what I got seemed flawed... now I would say after a good 300 miles I am comfortable. next pair will probably be k2 but I keep watching ebay for my good old salomons Good Luck. for 200 bucks you could get a good pair of skates Call the guys at Inline warehouse... they helped me with my final decision. They actually use the products they sell!

We sell and carry a lot more K2 than Roces so our experience is with K2. Personally, I skate on K2's as well. Roces is a fine brand and I don't have anything negative to say about them, but we are able to service K2 a lot better with parts and so forth.
I'm very happy with my Moto Extreme skates which I skate most often. I'm not sure as to what skates the other writer was mentioning with cord and warranty issues and all that. K2 does actually warranty that stuff should it be a problem, but I can't say that we've had any problems with those. The cord or TFS system I'm familiar with is with Rollerblade skates. I'll try to refrain from going into his concerns so much as I'm responding to your post. My answer would be Rollerblade actually if looking for the boot that fits the most like Salomon. Reason being they are tad bit wider than K2 (mm's). Salomon was the same way. Neither K2, RB or Roces will fit exactly like Salomon naturally. My preference is K2, but that's just me. As sizing and brand are mostly preference, it would be really tough for another to say which one would best serve you. If on the wider side, I would go with RB. If a standard width, either. K2 & RB are a lot better about making parts and accessories available. So I would stick with one of those. Thanks for the post! Stan @ IW |
