View Full Version : Frame Alignment

With my Pilot Pro 9s, when I skate with my feet parallel, I definitely tend to buckle inward a bit, and I feel like the wheels should be at a 90 degree angle to the pavement. Maybe that's a fallacy, when you take into consideration the geometry of the legs in relationship to the ground.

Anyway, I adjusted the frame position so they are as far inward as possible. This definitely seems to help with the angle of the wheels to the ground. But there is noticably more pressure on the inner part of my foot.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of moving the frames inward like that? Should one be doing something different with their style rather than adjusting the frames?

Thanks.

It's a preference really and allows a skater to adjust their skates to their specific skating style and stride.

Try thinking about where you are buckling inward. If more in the rear at ankle, or in the front at the ball of your foot. You may find it best to adjust the front or back inward a little bit, while leaving the other more of the same or at least not adjusted so much. This can work with your posture so that you are still aligned well on top of your wheels/frame, but take away the feeling of having all the pressure on the inside of your foot. It will distribute it out better.

So play with it a bit. I think you're on the right track. Just make sure you are tightening things and don't lose any bolts. Other than, keep adjusting until you find a good comfort level and you'll see your skating improve right away.
