Hi IWH,
I'm considering to get a new pair of performance skates.
Now its just between the
k2 radical pro and tempest 100.

As you know k2 radical pro comes with a softboot, I'm afraid that its durability might suffer (Accidents such as mesh tearing when falling) as compared to the RB tempest.

But I really like the Radical pro's hi-lo setup. May I know is it possible to change the RB tempest 100 setup? Or is it fixed?

Lastly , I know the RB tempest offers better control but K2 Radical Pro offers better comfort.

May I know your take on this?

Thanks in advance!

You are correct all around. The Tempest will have a more narrow fit and be a bit more responsive as it also a bit stiffer than that of the softboot.

The Radical Pro will have more comfort (in my opinion) but give up a little on the response as the material gives a ilttle more. So a give and take depending on what is most important to you. That's not to say the Tempest is not comfortable, but just a different fit as you mention.

The wheel setup is fixed that way as long as using those frames, if switching out frames you should be fine to do another setup on the Tempest.

Hope that helps. Both are nice skates.

Thanks for the post!

I'm currently on my rb spark 10. Size 9 and its snug. I'm deciding to get a pair of radical pro. As you know its softboot , should I order half a size smaller, 8.5?

I would suggest a size 9 still if it snug. The softboot will feel more roomy on the sides of your feet, but the length should hold pretty true.

Just remember to try on before use and make sure it fits how you want. IW offers free return shipping in the 48 states if not how you like. See site for details on that.

thx
Stan

Hi stan,
I just received my radical pro size 9. I like it. It's snug, with a little room for the toes in the front.!
Thanks!
