View Full Version : Getting a Stripped Screw from an Axle Out?

It appears that I've stripped the screw of an axle from my Aero 6 frames (I should've seen it coming, the blue wax on them was completely off and getting harder to get in). What's the best way to get them out (so that I can order new ones, I know IW has some)?

Stripped anyway :)

Not a good thing and no real easy fix. If you absolutely can't get it to grab one last time to get it out, you may have to go to the drill.

We periodically have to drill some out here at our shop. Not fun and although you don't have to worry about hurting your skates, you drill bit may see some damage.

That would be the way to get it out though if beyond retrieval.

Thanks for the posts !!

The last time I stripped a screw, a few weeks ago, my friend suggested Home Depot. Surprisingly, they did it for free, felt bad, started buying things in retrospect :) Though, I do get my keys made there...

It has yet to happen to me, and I'll keep on hoping it never does.

Or rather, it happens on everything BUT my skates. I'd probably take the dremel to it myself ...
