I'm looking at buying a new pair of skates but I don't like the look of any of the fitness skates. But i really like the look of some of the hockey skates. Are there any drawbacks of using a hockey skate as a all purpose skate. Would a hockey skate be comfortable enough to skate around in all day. Is it true that wheels of hockey skates wear out faster?
Thank you.

The boot are definitely a lot different. There are no quick lace or buckle hockey skates. All lace up with strings.
Hockey skates are very comfortable once broken in, but start out stiff normally. Wheels.. You can get hard wheels on hockey skates for outdoor hockey and soft for indoor. So you can get wheels that last outdoor.
It is not unheard of that people use their hockey skates for fitness. The wheel set up is normally a bit different. The Tour skates have all 80mm wheels which would be best for speed. Others have a hi-lo setup with 80mm in the back and 72mm in the front.
I would recommend sticking with a fitness skate if solely using for fitness. They are more comfortable and designed for such. If just looks a lone are steering you to a hockey skate, I would keep looking. Check out the men's skates possibly if a woman, for other color combinations.
Again, not unheard of that hockey players use their skates to do rec skating. So you CAN do it, just not ideal.
Thanks,
Stan
