Hello, I am a returning skater looking to get back into it.

I would like a nice urban skate. I am looking at the Seba FRX and Twisters and cant decide which to get. I plan to use them for fitness skating and also some street stuff. I am hoping to get back in to shape to do stairs and jumps and maybe some light grinding. I picked hard shell skates, because I am a bit large right now (225lbs) and my ankles are fairly weak.

When I get back in shape I am going to pick up a pair of aggressive skates also, but right now I need something to get back in to the swing of things with.

I have a pretty wide foot with short toes, so I usually buy shoes that are bigger that the length of my foot would suggest.

My foot is 10 1/4 inch or 258mm long, which is a size 8.5 I believe.

I tried on a size 9 RB Fusion x7 and couldnt hardly get my foot inside it. I also tried a Fusion x3 in a size 10, and I could fit it pretty snug, but it did hurt my feet after about 5 minutes of sitting with the boots on, not skating. I am not sure if this is an incorrect fit, or just cause my feet are out of shape, and the boot was no broken in.
I also tried a RB New Jack 1 in a size 10, and it was tight but nice.

I was reading that the Seba are a nightmare of pain to break in, and I'm not sure if I want that for my first new skate back. The twisters seem good, but I am super not a fan of the artwork on them (I know I know), anyway, what I am really concerned with is the fit and comfort of the skate.

I have heard the Seba are great skates, but am concerned with comfort and fit. I guess what I am asking is if I should avoide the seba, which are my first choice due to that, and go with the more expensive Twisters, or if the Seba will be ok for my needs.

Thanks.

From what you are telling me I think the Twister would be a better way to go as well. Better and easier fit right from the beginning.

Now your size... Are you 258 or 285? A size 10 is 280 and if that still snug, I would think a 10.5 in the Twister may be needed.

They are durable and strong skates that can take some punishment. They won't allow the grinding that you would be able to do on aggressive skates found on that portion of our site, but can take some jumps and stuff like that.

I would try that and make sure you try on for fit before skating so you can use the free return to exchange for different size if need be.

Thanks!

Thats the problem. I am 258 in length. Yet anything smaller than a size 10 usually squeezes my feet on the sides really badly. The x3 gave me pains in the side of my feet at size 10 almost instantly. Even though if I measure my feet the lenght would be a size 8 or 8.5.

Its very frustrating for me to fit action sports footwear, as its hard for me to know how something will actually fit after break in with my feet.

I heard the Seba FR1 and FRX both run pretty wide, which is encouraging to me, and why I was considering them.

What is your normal running shoe size you wear?

What is your normal running shoe size you wear?

I dont really know. I only have one pair of running shoes. In a size 10, i think, and they hurt my feel like hell after about 15 to 20 minutes of running in them. I usually wear size 10.5 Vans. Half Cabs. When Bowling I usually get a 10.5 or 11.

I recently bought some Converse Chuck Taylors in size 9 and while the length is good, I constantly feel like my feet are squeezed to hell.

Usually for a shoe to be comfortable on the sides, I usually have about an inch to an inch and a half of free space between the end of my shoes and my toes.

Would it help for me to go get sized for running shoes at a sports store or something?

No.. but typically one has a general idea of what shoe size they are.

From what I've heard, size 11 seems like a good place to start. No smaller than 10.5.

Thanks

I was just about to buy the Twisters myself until a friend turned me to these Sebas (http://www.inlinewarehouse.com/descpage-FRX.html) -nearly identical specs. They've been making the same damn slalom skate for quite a while now, kind of like Roces with their aggressive skates; sure there's new models every year, but as the materials improve the basic design hasn't really changed and the $300 model looks just like the $150 model with fancier straps and a dishwasher-safe liner. Point being, they've established a solid set up for the sport and there's just no reason for any major design changes -they're awesome. There are lots of Seba users on display at youtube -see for yourself. On the other hand, my last pair of Rollerblades lasted me many years and served me well, minus some durability issues with the velcro strap and the liner. I've just always suspected there must be something better out there; I equate Rollerblades with Sony -gimicky advertising and just enough performance for your money.

Just added the Seba Carbon Slalom Freestyle inline skates to our lineup here at IW. Can't wait to check them out. A pair on the way now.
