I go roller skating every Saturday and I skate with in line skates. I can go forwards and backwards, but I can’t make the transition from one to the other. How do you do it?

Before working on the transition from forward skating to backwards, make sure you are confident in both techniques.
I like to skate forward, bend both knees, slide my left foot forward and pivot.. turning my right foot (which is my dominant foot) 180 degrees.. and let my body follow behind..
Work on the transition until you have it mastered before picking up speed.. and make sure you have protective gear on (at least a helmet and wrist guards) when practicing new techniques.. :)
Great question! hope this helped!!

I find that if you watch lots of videos of other people doing it (there are tonnes on youtube), you'll begin to better understand the technique, and then you can apply that understanding and put it into practice yourself.

A new page will be up on our site focusing on the above. There will a section showing videos on skating, nutrition and cross-training. Should be up in the next few weeks.
