Are K2 wheels softer than others?

Been skating on my K2 Mach 100's for about three weeks now, probably been out about a dozen times, maybe a 100 miles, and already needed to rotate the wheels. I'm skating on regular asphalt roads, mostly smooth with some rough patches. Is this just the way with the stock K2 wheels? What kind of wheels would last longer without breaking my wallet?

The 85A K2's typically hold up well. The Radical 85A on the Radical series I have more experience with, and those are pretty hard and wear nicely. Too hard sometimes even. The 85A on the Mach 100 are different wheels and could wear a little differently.

If on a smooth surface and not t-stopping anything, they should wear excessively. 100 miles is a pretty good distance and all wheels will wear as you know.

Some great wheel you might want to try are the MPC VT Road wheels. Either firm or if on a real smooth surface, even xfirm.

Since the Mach 100's are Hi-Lo's, I'll need a 4 set of 90mm. The only MPC VT 90mm you have for sale are either Firm and pink in color, or XFirm and blue in color. Am I reading that right? Sorry, but no way there's gonna be pink wheels on my skates :p

Oh and by the way, the original wheels on the Mach 100's are 83a ... I glanced right over that in your reply.

Yes...Firm and XFirm with the hardness listed with the color.
