Guys,

I ordered a pair of K2 skates for my wife earlier this year and today I rotated them for her. When I did this I noticed that each skate has two 84mm wheels, and 2 80mm wheels.

Is this normal or correct or dangerous and bad? If this is correct, why is it correct and what is the advantage? If it's not correct, why were they sent this way and what are the possible consequences of skating this way. I put the two 80mm's in the front two places and put the 84mm's in the back. This way, three of the wheels touch the ground (the 1st, 2nd, and 4th) with the 3rd hovering above.

Should I let her skate like this or should I purchase a new set?

Please help. Very confused.

Those are the correct sizes and you'll see skates on the site sold this way as well. It is often referred to as a Hi-Lo setup. Started in roller hockey to gain maneuverability with the smaller front wheels, while capitalizing on the speed of the larger when upright.

Utilized the same way on fitness skates to help keep you in a forward leaning skating position and helps aid in maneuverability.

Thanks for the post !
