Hi--

New to fitness skating, but I did a lot of ice and inline street skating when I was younger. I've taken this up as an alternative to road biking, which was increasingly starting to cause me a lot of joint pain in my upper body. At any rate, being generally fit and comfortable on skates, I've been able to jump right in and rack up a lot of fast miles. It seems to be working for me.

Question is this: I overpronate and as such have a tendency to splay my feet. I've noticed that this is giving me a little difficulty in push-off, causing occasional toe dragging (especially towards the end of a workout). It's putting a little strain on the inner part of my knee and causing a little hamstring discomfort as well.

My Salomon Motion8 Ti's can be adjusted so that the frame is aligned with front wheels slightly towards the inside. Would you advise this as a possible corrective measure for my problem? Are there other steps that might help?

Thanks!

You're exactly right. Flirt with some adjustments (front & back) and you should be able to correct that. It is going to feel a bit funky with each adjustment, so you'll have to give it a moment to see if it works for you. Don't be too quick to change it up. Go head and get several strides in or a short skate to see if too much or too little.

Thanks for the post!

I don't mean to nag, but try to always always push off your skate with your heel, you'll get so much extra push you won't believe it - and you won't have painful arches either - everybody wins :D
