I used to frequent the skating rink when I was younger and had a pretty nice set up for that. I recently bought a set of out door wheels (80mmx82a) for my 5 wheel set up with Bont sharkie boot. The problem is being off of them for a few years and now using them again I feel there isn't enough support in the ankle for me. Is there a technique I should be using to steady my ankles or do I need to get a skate with a taller boot? Also is it a good idea to use this type of skate outdoor on normal paved surfaces?

Your muscles will take a while to get used to those skates again. Not much support up top.
Not a bad idea to get a lower level rec skate that will have more support. You can still get one with a lot of speed in the 80mm or 84mm skates. They now have the 4 wheel 90mm even which are fast. 80mm would be better for indoor as they are easier to maneuver.
Those skates you have are fine for outdoors. More designed for outdoor longer skates than anything else. Hard to crossover on those big skates. Better to open it up on a long skate trail with long strides.
Thanks for the post !
