I am not a slalom skater but i really like the way these Powerslide S3 FSK are made. they look so good. I seriously want to get a pair but i will be using them for getting around in urban areas for recreational skating and light exercise. DO you think it is ok if i get these skates to ride on everyday on the streets for getting around in new york city?
What do you think of me changing the frames to one that supports 90mm wheels on these boots?

this is a serious posting. Im about to spend $300 on these skates or i can hold the money and look for another pair. I cant stop thinking about these beautiful skates. Is it a good idea to get them for casual use around the city + occassional friendly racing?

what i mean is that if i use these skates:

for recreational skating, will they be more prone to wear and tear?

What seperates/differences these slalom skates have compared to recreational skates?
i know shorter frames and smaller wheels. But what about the over all construction to withstand skating in a city with bumps on the sidewalk?
:confused::confused::confused::confused:

These are great skates. Very form fitting snug to your feet to give a HIGH degree of control, with great wheels and bearings.

They are a true freestyle skate like those that skate cones and what not. Many enjoy these that do not skate cones as hey....there aren't many out there that are that good.

They do not come with a brake nor have brake to buy aftermarket. Many take their brake off whichever skate they get, but if you are not one of those people, getting for an every day skate may not be a good choice. Otherwise, they are fun, quick and smooth and a blast to skate.

A slalom skate focuses on the response to your feet as that is what is needed if doing slalom. The S3 does that by having a very thorough fit throughout, stiff frames, etc... A recreational skate at the same wheel size likely has a soft boot that although comfortable, would have a little stretch to it if doing maneuvring tricks and so forth. Something like the RB10, X3, X5, X7 skates are kind of a hybrid of a rec and slalom. Some of those have 80mm, and others will have 90mm. But all have a moldable shell instead of softboot to help keep the skate responsive and manueverable. Those RB's mentioned have brakes too !

Thanks for the post. Let me know if I missed something.
