I'm looking to purchase some new skates, but need a pair that is not very heavy. Due to a past skiing accident, my spleen gets sore if I use skates that are too heavy and slow. I need to find a lightweight skate that goes very fast without having to use a lot of strength to get the skate going.
Currently, I have Salomon X-TR Pulse skates with ABEC 5 bearings and 80mm 82A wheels. These skates have been excellent with speed and terrific at absorbing shock, but it's time to upgrade. So far I've been considering the women's version of these skates:
Rollerblade Lightning 6
Rollerblade Lightning 4
K2 VO2 Max
I've noticed that many advanced/cross training skates are now being sold with larger wheels since they're supposed to go faster. The largest wheels I've ever used are 80mm.
Is there a big speed difference between 90mm wheels and 80mm? Do 90mm wheels come in lightweight versions? Does anyone know if the skates listed above (or of any other kinds) that are light in weight and very fast?
Thanks very much for any help you can give. :)
