Can you recommend an appropriate wheel(s) and hardness reating for my skates.
I mainly ride on the street/side walks which are a combination of smooth and rough conditions.
The stock K2 (90/100mm) wheels (85a) wore extremely fast in my opinion. I had to rotate them after every 1 hour ride I did. So I probably need a harder more durable wheel.
Thanks for any advice

Matter wheels would be my recommendation if having that much trouble with wear. They are a bit more expensive, but great wheels that will last longer.

There must be some pretty rough terrain for the 85A k2's to be wearing that quickly. Either that or some severe corners or braking? Regardless, if looking for a great wheel, try Matter. They last so as to make up for the higher cost.

Thanks!

Thanks,
How does the atom ONE 86A compare to the Matter Juice's? I read they are basically the same compound material.

I am thinking 86A (Matter Juice or Atom ONE's) for the rear 100mm wheels and perhaps the MPC street fights 87A for the front 90mm wheels. Perhaps this would be too hard and limit my grip and cornering ability though?

Yes, I do have to ride on some rough, old asphalt roads. However I mainly ride on relatively smooth side walks and asphalt streets. I do a lot of cornering and slalom to slow myself down on the hilly streets I skate on. I also tend to use the T-stop braking method when need be.

They indeed are said to be the same makeup of wheel currently (urethane-wise). But the hubs are quite different.

So you can trim about .50 a wheel if using the Atom. We are currently out of the MPC in 90. Great wheels, but a tough company to get wheels from. Take a long time.

Atom will have 90mm's in August/September sometime. We have those on backorder. Matter 90mm are in stock.

Asphalt is very tough on wheels and t-stopping is too naturally. Turning like you do down those hills is fun isn't it? Love that...

With the skating you do, I'd think it safe to say to get some good wheels and see if that works more efficiently for you. MATTER, MPC and ATOM are definitely the top brands. Matter #1 with those that are racing and so forth. Which performs better with where and how you are skating is arguable and you may have to test them out. I've always enjoyed Matter wheels and I've skated the Atoms and enjoyed those too. My skating areas are more flat with no large downhills unless I seek them out. So I'm lucky in that I don't have to punish my wheels too much and they tend to last a great length of time which is nice.

Thanks for the post !
