View Full Version : Skate fit question

I recently purchased a pair of K2 Moto 90 skates for myself after borrowing a pair from a friend to try out. Both my friend's and my new skates are size 9, and fit me fine.

I had no difficulties with spot tightness or ill-fit in my friend's boots (skated in them twice for about 2 hours each time). I have skated on the same terrain (asphalt bike path) in my skates as I did the borrowed pair, and the past two times I have had a problem with a "hot spot" just anterior to the tibial portion of my left ankle. I am not having the same problem with my right foot.

The focal pain I am experiencing began within the first 10 minutes of skating today, and persisted for the duration despite attempts to alter boot fit. I have throughly examined the boot, and experimented with altering the tightness of the ratchet strap a the top of the boot while wearing it. Nothing helps.

I'd be grateful if you could please suggest means I might employ to alleviate this problem. I will not be comfortable, and therefore will not be able to skate for very long or far, if I can't resolve this issue.

Any advice or opinions appreciated.

It's tough to say. Your ankle may not be fitting into the molded area as well as on the other foot and thus having a pressure point. Your feet can be two different sizes as mine are. Sometimes a footbed or insert help, but it is tough to tell if that would help in this instance.

It could be a defect in the liner. Is there something pressing/hitting/rubbing on the ankle?

If wanting to, we could obtain an RA (return authorization) from K2 and provide you with that. It would involve sending the skates into them and they would either fix or replace. I would be hard pressed to speculate on the problem however. Seems like you've checked them out pretty well.

As the problem wasn't there originally but came about after a few skates, it may be even something that has developed since starting to skate like a bone spur or something?
