So what's the advantages and disadvantages of getting a skate with a longer frame?

A longer frame will house larger wheels and can give you more speed. Kind of like having a longer ski. Can get more speed, but you lose some maneuverability.

Bigger the wheel, the more speed it can obtain, and the easier to maintain that speed as well.

Bigger frames and wheels are good for longer distances or those with straighter trails to ride. 90mm is becoming the most popular wheel size lately. Gives you a bit of both worlds.
